Satvat Jagwani gained prominence for clinching the top rank (AIR 1) in the highly competitive IIT-JEE, securing admission into IIT Bombay, renowned for its rigorous academic standards. The IIT-JEE exam is renowned globally for its difficulty level, attracting lakhs of aspirants annually, yet only a select few achieve remarkable scores. Jagwani’s feat of attaining AIR 1 amidst this intense competition underscores his exceptional talent. Despite his stellar achievement, Jagwani chose to depart from IIT Bombay after just two years, foregoing completion of his undergraduate degree, to pursue further studies at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Following his success in the IIT-JEE, Jagwani established a presence on Quora and YouTube, where he shared insights and knowledge with aspiring IIT students, particularly in programming. His academic prowess was reaffirmed when he secured AIR 1 in the JEE Advanced 2015. According to information from his LinkedIn profile, Jagwani obtained his bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from MIT in 2020, subsequently completing his master’s degree at the same institution. Currently, he serves as a Software Development Engineer at Cadence Design Systems, a US-based software company founded by an IIT alumnus in 2021.

Jagwani’s decision to depart from IIT Bombay puzzled many observers. However, it’s noteworthy that he’s not the only IIT-JEE topper to opt for MIT over IIT Bombay. Chitraang Murdia, who secured AIR 1 in the JEE Advanced 2014, initially enrolled in IIT Bombay for Computer Science but later transferred to MIT to pursue Physics. While Murdia openly discussed his choice, Jagwani has kept his reasons for transitioning to MIT relatively private.
