IGNOU July 2026 Registration: Application Window Closes on September 15, Check Documents Required

IGNOU July 2026 fresh admission registration closes on September 15. Check eligible programmes, documents required and steps to apply online.

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the last date for fresh admission to the July 2026 session until September 15, 2026. The extension applies to notified programmes offered through both Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Online modes, except certificate programmes.

Eligible students who have not yet applied can complete the admission process through the respective IGNOU Samarth portals.

Documents required

Applicants should keep the following documents ready:

  • Recent passport-size photograph
  • Scanned signature
  • Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets/certificates, wherever applicable
  • Relevant educational qualification certificates
  • Experience certificate, if required for the chosen programme
  • Category certificate for SC/ST/OBC candidates, wherever applicable
  • APAAR ID, as required during the current admission process

The exact documents and eligibility requirements may vary according to the programme. IGNOU’s prospectus states that applicants must upload the required documents while submitting the online admission form.

How to apply

  1. Visit the official IGNOU admission portal.
  2. Select New Registration and create a username and password.
  3. Log in and fill in personal, academic and programme details.
  4. Upload the required documents.
  5. Pay the applicable programme fee online.
  6. Review all details carefully and submit the application.
  7. Download and save the confirmation for future reference.

Applications for ODL programmes can be submitted through the IGNOU Samarth admission portal, while applicants for online programmes should use the separate online admission portal.

Students should complete the process before September 15 and regularly check the admission portal for application scrutiny, discrepancies and confirmation of enrolment.
